Stereopony Song of the Week, Week 30

Beyond the Tears

The song “Namida no Mukou” first appeared in Stereopony’s single of the same name.

A song written on a dark day in a city crowded with people and the endless rain, the cold sticks to the skin and reaches the bone. The loneliness and sadness simply stabs at the heart ruthlessly and without a tear in the eye, a girl says she can’t smile even though she knows that it hurts others. There’s so much pain, fear, sadness in one’s heart that we build walls so high they make it hard to even breathe. With the battle to simply survive in a grey world can just strip the colour and life out of everything. There’s unsaid, unspoken feelings in this world that need a vent but they don’t come out because of different pressures. Feeling untouched by external things makes other people sad. Feeling this immense sadness, the tears we cry at night are perhaps the only relief we can have at times.

Sometimes we have to let go of the person we hold the closest or a person we hold very dear. Seeing their tears, we feel heartbroken but we know that we will wait for that person be it day or night, now and forever. Seeing their tears we are, in a way, comforted to know that we are important and that we will be missed. The city is lit up bright with the spectrum of the evening sun and as if being set ablaze, it screams out to us to continue living. The reasons don’t matter. It may be for yourself or for someone else but being alive and continuing the fight against everything that oppresses us is the thing to know. Even though every little thing might be pulling us down, away from our goal or dream, we have to know that this world only has places for fighters.

Even a glance out of a window to the blue skies can remind us that there is much more beyond what we see or feel right now. There’s freedom and happiness out there so just holding on till we can figure out what to do is what is needed most.

Little by little as each tear is shed, there’s a little bit inside that grows a little stronger, a little braver so just trusting in that and working towards a brilliant happiness, we know that seeing other people’s pain makes us sad but smile in the face of adversity. Showing your fears a shining, bright face with the fight to take it down with each blow you cast is only way to freeing happiness.

Musically this song is so deep with the striking drum and the strong tones of the bass with the strong tempo and AIMI’s voice full of emotion. The words are precise and very direct. The video is shot with great talent showing us a world marred by the rain and pain yet there’s that spark of fire in our hearts.

So enjoy the thirtieth Stereopony Song of the Week! Beyond the tears and the pain is the bright future! FIGHT ON!
