Stereopony Song of the Week, Week 7

Half

Hanbunko means a half. It is a song about giving love a fighting chance. The first line of the song asks “do you still have the pieces of the love that we had?”

The song has two parts. The first parts is about the world the lovers see when they are apart. The moon they can see and the roads they walk on are the same, yet they are far apart from each other. The second part is about the beautiful memories they have, like the mug they chose together or the weird funny photographs they took. They all have memories attached to them and the girl wonders if her lover still has them. The last part of the song has a wonderful reunion of the lovers, with tears but with the truest heartfelt words — “aishiteru” (i.e. “I love you”).

A song that has a very slow first line and a fast pick up suddenly after is a very peculiar feature of the song. The lyrics, written by Shinichi Tsutsumi from Bivattchee, are written wonderfully. The drumming and bass work are fast and add to the theme. The video was particularly well shot and had everything like a shojo manga love story.

A song perfect for the Valentine’s week — play the seventh Stereopony Song of the Week, “Hanbunko,” as you enjoy love and life happening!
